Hong Kong bookshop owners arrested in free-speech crackdown

Two owners of one of Hong Kong’s last independent bookshops were arrested on Wednesday in the latest attack on freedom of speech in the city. Leticia Wong, a former pro-democracy district councillor, and her business partner were accused of “displaying seditious items” including content “inciting hatred against the Hong Kong SAR government, judiciary, and law enforcement agencies”, according to police.
